Applications are still open for people wanting to do the postgraduate diploma in Railway
Studies through the University of York's Centre for Lifelong Learning. We take applications up
until the start of term at the end of September. Here is a bit of detail:
The PG Diploma in Railways Studies is designed to give students a better understanding of how
scholars have investigated the social, cultural, political, business, economic, and
technological aspects of British railway history between 1825 and 2002. The course has six
modules, undertaken over two years part-time. It is fully on-line, although there is a
residential weekend once a year. For more information, see

Also, from October 2016 I will be running a short on-line learning for pleasure course looking
at the social and economic impact of the railways on Britain between 1825 and 1914 through the
